From Coloring dyes: Most multivitamin have coloring agent added to them ie yellow number 5 or something similar and this non toxic coloring agent is removed unchanged by the kidneys. Urine color can be yellow, green, orange etc depending on the coloring agent added to the multivitamin tablets.

Yes.: Multivitamins can impart a bright yellow color to the urine, usually attributed to the b-complex vitamins. Other compounds in the formulation also contribute to urine color, and is harmless. Patients who use their urine color as a measure of hydration status should be careful not to drink fluids excessively because of this.

Enough B1 and B2: Vitamins B1 and esp. B2 have a yellow color so bright yellow urine suggests enough B1 and B2. But B3, 5, 6, 12 and folate aren&#x27;t yellow and you might still have inadequate levels of those. Many have difficulty absorbing B12. Nearly half of people have trouble metabolizing folic acid and need the L-5-MTHF form of folate. Fasting blood homocysteine can indicate if you have enough B6, B12 and folate.

Bilirubin in urine: I wouldn't focus so much on the color of your urine. It is normal for urine to have a yellow tent it can be a light yellow to a dark amber depending on your hydration status. Yellow in your urine is bilirubin which is a breakdown product from the liver as it helps maintain equilibrium in your body. Your body is going through a lot of changes as you are pregnant, I would just focus at this time on taking your prenatal vitamins on time. If you develop urinary symptoms or fever or chills then discuss this with your doctor.

The more hydrated one is, the clearer the color and the greater the urinary frequency. On the other hand, darker yellow urine is associated with dehydration and less urinary frequency. Vitamin b2 (riboflavin), present in most multivitamins, is what imparts a more colorful yellow/orange urine.

: The color of the urine does not mean the multivitamin is too strong, it is just that like medications and foods the body absorbs what it wants and excrete the rest and some of the vitamins are excreted in the urine to make it the color that you have. It does not mean you should change the vitamin you are taking unless there are other issues apart from the color of the urine.

Urine Color: The color of your urine can be changed by dyes in foods, medications, drinks, disease and by ingesting dyes.  If you changed the brand of BCP or the generic version it could cause this.  The urinary tract medicine pyridium (phenazopyridine) is a common cause as well.  Liver disease can cause this as well.  If you have any yellowing of the whites of your eyes or this does not resolve seek medical care
