why is this eye infection not responding to antibiotics?

Time frame?: I am guessing that  you have seen an ophthalmologist or another type of md (not an optometrist!) who gave you an antibiotic (topical drops?) for an eye infection.  How long ago was that?  Most eye infections will last 3-8 days so if you are in that time frame, perhaps you need just be patient.  If it is worsening, or taking too long, re-see the ophthalmologist.

Depends: If the infection is caused by bacteria, you might see improvement and decreased contagion in a day.  If the eye infection is viral, the antibiotic drops won't change the status of contagion at all.

we have used sulphacetamide ointment  for the last two days and it still does not look any better?

Eye infection: You need to see an ophthalmologist for evaluation of the infection and the proper treatment. It is very important to know the cause of the infection in order to properly treat. Big difference between viral and bacterial infection.

Post nasal drip: The quick answer is no, but i think you have eye and nasal allergies, not infection and the nasal allergies can cause a drip. An allergist will help.

Ocular infection: Do not know what the doctor actually diagnosed or was treating, but there are few "eye infections" in a 6 mos old that would need a single antibiotic injection.  Hopefully this doctor is pediatrician.  If not, go and have your baby seen be a pediatrician. The CRP is a very non-specific indicator of inflammation and is not generally an indicator, by itself, of a need for antibiotics.

Viral?: Most cases of conjunctivitis are caused by viruses, and there's nothing you can do to clear them up other than wait from them to resolve on their own.  If you've already tried antibiotic drops or ointments, that may be the reason.

In good hands: Sounds like the eye infection was a clue to a more serious systemic infection.  Your child seems to be in 'good hands' as they have recognized the problem and are giving an effective antibiotic for the septicemia.  Hopefully all will turn out well.

Yes usually: My preference is for either Azasite (azithromycin) or polytrim (polymyxin b and trimethoprim) (polysporin/trimethoprim) in a child and i save the steroid containing drop as a last resort.

See your Doctor: You need evaluation to see if it is viral or bacterial infection or allergic conjunctivitis.The treatment depends on the cause
bacterial conjunctivitis can be treated with prescription antibiotic drops, viral is treated differently
see your doctor or opthalmologist.

Ophthalmologist: I would go to your ophthalmologist to determine if you need antibiotics.
