i keep experiencing swelling under my jaw (sometimes on both sides) and tingling in my mouth and on my tongue. it goes away and comes back. sometimes it happens when i eat and other times it just happens randomly. i also think i might have tmj?

Occipital nerves: Occipital nerves run in the back of the head and I often see headache patients with tenderness in this area.  Not unusual to see or hear for a neurologist and I'd say almost every headache patient I see has some degree of tenderness in this area.  If its a problems, thing can be done to help out.  See a neurologist that like to treat headaches.

Not sure !: There is insufficient history and very diffuse set of symptoms to reply  age?weight? duration of symptoms etc This could be nothing important or sign of conditions like rheumatoid arthritis  see an MD !

Jaw swelling: An infection comes to mind as the most likely cause, although there are a host of other possibilities. Rather than merely giving you a list of them, see a dentist for a proper exam and evaluation.

Many things: Many things. Most commonly dental infections, wisdom tooth problems, gum problems, cysts, tumors, saliva gland problems.
If you have such a swelling see an oral surgeon ASAP for exam.

See doctor : Depends how quickly and whether having breathing troubles.  If yes please go to the ED and rule out allergic reaction.  Otherwise see your doctor who can examine the mouth and the teeth (could also be a dental problem) and work out how best to treat you.

Swelling: Where, in front of ear, over your cheek, or along bottom of jaw bone? Duration? How much swelling? Pain? What intensity?  Please be examined by your Dentist when you have a flare-up to help determine cause and appropriate treatment.
