Generally the BUN and cr will be elevated in febrile patients with infection when they are dehydrated and corrects rapidly with fluid replacement. Also in septic shock there may be acute tubular necrosis.

Has no importance: The value of this ratio does not become important when the creatinine level is so low (but normal) in early childhood. It is only when the body mass has matured and the creatinine level rises that it can have any significance. Please do not freak over pre-printed lab reports generated by a computer. It is truly not an issue.
