Not ovulating: For a young woman like yourself, the most common cause of bleeding for a month would be lack of ovulation.  Ovulation is what causes periods to be regular and normal.  When ovulation doesn't occur, anything can happen, from no period to constant bleeding.  I would see your doctor.

Anovulation: You've had a cycle in which the ovary failed to release an egg.  This disrupts the usual hormone levels and causes the cycle to be abnormal.

Varies: The effects of Nexplanon are out of your system about 7 days after removal taking you back to your normal baseline hormonal state. Although that part is factual we can not necessarily predict when an individual will return to normal cyclic periods. That is going to depend on that individual’s baseline hormonal status.

Not likely: Menopause is usually when one stops having periods not having them more often. As one gets closer to menopause though hormonal changes can cause period problems. There are many options to help with menstrual irregularity.

Check pregnancy 1st: You could be pregnant. If you are an avid fitness trainer, you could have a hormone balance issue that prevents you from having normal menses. Many long distance runners do not have periods.

Period: Your needs labs (check for anemia, thyroid disorder, iron level, and other conditions), need a gyn exam, possibly an ultrasound in some ocasssions biopsy of hte uterus linning., check for std, review your medications, or if have been on birth control pill, Depo-Provera shot or have had iud.  Talk to your doctor.

Not normal: Their are many reasons that a woman may bleed for a month or longer - not necessarily dangerous but definitely not normal.  Need to see gyn.
