Of something, yes.: Pee is filtered blood, and the smell of pee reflects what has been in the blood lately. If your pee smells strongly - period - then you don't have enough water in your body and need to drink lots more. The exact smell of pee was used for years to determine what infection someone's body had. Coffee-smell in the kitchen is good, but in the bathroom it means you need medicine. Go see your doc.

See below : Many various types of food and beverages can cause the urine to have a distinct odor especially when the urine is darker and more concentrated. Coffee, and its various metabolites, is one of the more common causes. Other than the distinct odor, of no concern of harm.

UTI?: I would consider the diagnosis of a urinary tract infection which can cause cloudy urine which smells unusual.  The coffee smell may be related to a particular organism in the urine or it may be that the organism breaks down substances in the urine causing it to smell like coffee.  Get a urine analysis and culture.

Strong brew: Hi NikitaM, it is not uncommon to smell coffe in your urine. Its the other smell that could be concerning. Maloderous urine can be an indication of an early urinary tract infection, or bacterial/candidal vaginitis. If you have discharge or urinary symptoms, see your doctor. Otherwise, if you dont want your urine to smell like coffee, dont drink coffee. And watch out for asparagus.

Probably okay...: Some are more health-conscious than others, but even overdone with it. This is the normal pattern/spectrum of human behaviors. As to urine smell in relation to possible food/beverage consumption, remember: certain urine odor is normal, but personally unique and varying with what we eat or drink. So, it's okay as long as voiding comfortably and having a normal urinalysis. If still in doubt, ask doc.

i had shock wave lithotripsy 10 days ago with a stent placed. the stent pain has been horrible but decreasing daily. there is so much blood in my urine. seems to start to clear up one minute and the next my urine looks like coffee. it smells fine?

Toxin Removal: Unwanted chemicals and toxins are removed from the body in the urine, as well as from the skin and lungs. The odor is a reflection of what you have been putting into the body, i.e. what you eat.  Clearly that combination of "Nutrients" produces an odd smell when you consume them. Try flushing drink extra water!

Urine Changes: For a patient with nephrotic syndrome, any changes in your urine should be reported to your kidney doctor (nephrologist).  I am not aware of  any condition where what is eaten is later smelled in the urine.
