Doc visit MRI: Need to see a doctor and probably get a MRI of your knee. Classic sign of a meniscus tear is that if it is displaced or "jammed" inside the joint it prevents you from straightening your knee out (like a doorstop). Chronic arthritis of a knee can also cause a flexion contracture (cannot straighten knee out) people hurt more at night because of use during day or less stimulation to distract.

Many: Usually this involves either an inflammatory issue (arthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, synovitis) or an injury to the cartilage (meniscus tear or articular cartilage damage).  Of these, the most common are arthritis and meniscus tears.

Inflammation: Ice, rest, elevation, and anti-inflammatory/pain medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen are the initial treatment. If no help, see an orthopedic surgeon for an exam, and maybe some X-rays or MRI. Hope this helps!

Inflammation: The tendon is inflamed. Or it could be knee lateral compartment derangement which you can only see with MRI or ct.

It depends.: It could be a simple tendinitis, or, something more troublesome, like arthritis. Meniscal tears are very common, as well. You need to see an orthopedic knee specialist, who can pinpoint the source of your pain.

Patella: Was there trauma? If not, could be from mild arthritis behind your knee cap; also could be from tight muscles, around knee (ie quadriceps, hip flexors, hamstrings) if it persists i would get evaluated by an orthopedist.

This is common: The pressure of the atmosphere is lower (low pressure area), and the pressure of the knee doesn't change, so it is relatively INCREASED in the knee. It feels swollen when atmospheric pressure on it goes DOWN. Usually occurs in the context of mild arthritis/joint damage with swelling.

Pressure and temp: A few studies have shown that especially for people with arthritis and healed fractures, joint pain can change based on outside weather. We have pressure receptors that can be could be triggered when outside pressure changes -like when it rains.  Temperature changes during stormy weather can also account for the pain.  I wouldn't worry too much if you're having a little pain, though.
