can i be allergic to spicy food? my nose itches every time i eat spicy food and sometimes i also cough and choke. could it be some kind of allergy?

Vasomotor rhinitis: You may have a sensitivity to the spice in the food, it is called vasomotor rhinitis. There are antihistamine nasal sprays that can be prescribed to aid in controlling your symptoms and have to be taken prior to eating spicy food. Ask your doctor for a prescription.

how is it that my skin itches when i eat hot pepper or salty food?

Skin sensitivities: Some people have skin sensitivities to different irritants others have allergies.  See your doctor for a diagnostic work up.  Some people undergo allergy testing.

why does the top of my head itch when i eat something very spicy? when i eat something that has fresh chillies in it and it is very spicy, the top of my head sometimes itches. why is that?

There : There are a few different explanations for this. One would be an allergic reaction to the chillies you are consuming. A reaction such as this could cause itching, however it would be strange only in your head, and would likely present in other areas of your body. After further research i found that there is a chemical called microptaprotomerase that is present in certain spicy foods, not sure if it is found in chillies though. This chemical is absorbed in your blood and eventually affects your hair follicles and accumulates on your scalp and causes itching.
I invite other providers to add their input since there may be another explanation I am not aware of.

Not always: Check with an allergist and discuss allergy testing and desensitization if needed.

Itching: Check with your internist to see if you have a normal bood count and chemistries. Then, if everything is normal consult a dermatologist for help with your itchimg.

Nope: Talk to your Dentist and PCP to make sure it is not a reaction to any of the medicine you take, or food allergy or Local  Mucosal Infection.

: Sometimes, people will get histamine release with vigorous exercise, which can cause the skin to itch.  Try an over-the-counter antihistamine.  If this doesn't work, you should really see your primary doctor and have an evaluation done.  Best of luck.

Itching of scalp: It is possible you have very dry scalp or dandruff- have your family doctor examine you, .

Several possibilitie: Itches like crazy sounds pretty darn serious.  You might have someone check for hair lice or other offending agents.    Less intense itching might be related to your shampoo, hair products, including reaction to dyes, etc.  Less intense itching could also be related to a fungus infection of the scalp, which would need some anti-fungal treatments.
