Ans: The ears have no protection to the cold and wind. Cover them up when you go outside. You will feel better

Possible TMJ: Since the pain is near your ear, which is also where your TMJ is, you may be experiencing TMJ dysfunction. A full exam by a dentist with tmd expertise would give you some answers. Not all dentists are experienced in this area so seek out the right dentist. Another possibility would be to see and ent. Depending on what other symptoms you have, the dentist would probably be the first choice.

Might be TMJ: It could be an infection (swelling), but it could also be your jaw joint if the pain occurs when you eat or chew.  The best way to find out is check with you dentist and have this evaluated completely.

Nerve pain: from a jaw injury can certainly hurt in the ear.   With these symptoms, an exam with your physician is a good idea.   Some anti-inflammatory medicine such as ibuprofen if you can take it, would be helpful as you wait for your appointment.

External otitis: External otitis. Swimmers ear. Use OTC drops.. No Q-tips. If pain persists, see ENT doc who may insert wick and prescribe stronger drops and oral antibiotics.

Tendonitis: If there is no hearing loss or fullness or pressure in the ear, the most common cause of the pain behind your ear depending on the exact location, is either inflammation of the tendon of the large muscle of the neck (scm) or inflammation of the temporalis muscle.  Also could be infected lymph node.

i've been having twitching/throbbing on sides of my head for a while.even my ear throb/twitch.why? i've noticed when i take nexuim,it stop for a while

Type of Migraine?: May be you are experiencing Migraine ( vascular headache Which is typically localized and throabing. Try to find the trigger events ot food. And may want to avoid them. Also take OTC Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Excedrin Migarine medicine. 
 I do not think Nexium has any thing to do with this,
Are you sure you are not hearing your Heart beat?

Hard to know: Without more information, difficult to know.  If it persists, it is certainly worth having examined.  Could be muscle, infection (of ear, throat or bone behind ear called mastoid), reactive lymph node, parotid gland or jaw problem or blood vessel problem.
