Headache:  Many hair straigteners/ smoothing balms contain formaldehyde (formalin &amp; methylene glycol) which can release formaldehyde in gas form  when heated and cause headaches. However, I reviewed the ingredient list  for Joico k-pak and did not see these specific chemicals listed. As you sensitive to smells? This has coconut aroma.

So you will know what to avoid.  The downside is that sweet things are some of the best things in life.  At least, one less factor to worry about that can impact one's waistline!
