my daughter 18, had a surgical procedure done on her bladder to stop reflux. she had her 6 week checkup around the 3rd of august and the one kidney was still a bit enlarged but all looks ok. she now has really bad flu, can she take antibiotics?

Odd question: Her bladder procedure would have nothing to do with her ability to take antibiotics. The med for flu is an anti-viral and only useful if started in the first 48 hrs. Antibiotics are not useful in flu unless there is an add on diagnosis.

i hvae to have hernia surgery on10/31. i think i have an abcesed tooth. i have antibiotics for it. is it ok to take them?

Check with Surgeon: Having an active abscess can sometimes mean your surgery will be cancelled. Call your surgeon's office right away.
Also make a dental appointment asap. There is a strong possibility that you can have the abscess treated by your dentist and then still have your hernia surgery.

shoulder surgery 2 1/2 weeks away and i have antibiotic to take for mini cold. is it okay to take them? is antibiotic an antiinflammatory?

Shoulder injury: Ok to take antibiotic , You should make your surgeon aware that u r doing so  . Most antibiotics have no any inflammatory properties , i.e. They r two completely different classes of medications

i had surgery a few days ago & was given painkillers & antibiotics. i'm still nauseous and lethargic. how long should it take for this to pass?

Depends on what: surgery and anesthesia was used how long it will stay in your body, whether you were under general or MAC anesthesia. You will be nauseous and lethargic initially. Then, it should get better each day. If you were under anesthesia for many hours it will take longer, as the anesthesia takes longer to get out of your system. So, make sure to get a lot of rest!

Azithromycin i: Azithromycin is a good alternative if you can't tolerate those two.
