No: You can't get sick from probiotics. They are safe to take. They are the type of medication that either works or doesn't work , but has little in terms of side effects.  There isn't a recommended brand, best is to go to your local health food store and ask for recommendation of brands carried. I don't know of any risks of taking them.

Possibly: I believe than in patients who are not significantly immunocompromised, symptomatic yeast infections in the stomach are unlikely.   I would suggest looking for other explanations.   Probiotics can be helpful for managing a host of conditions.   Look for options for getting off of the ranitidine.  Short term okay but long term  It too could be contributing to symptoms.

about 30-60 mins after i eat i feel sick no matter what i eat. i started taking probiotics but they also really hurt my stomach and made me feel sick?

Sick after eating: Your symptoms warrant some investigation.  I would suggest seeing your primary physician for an exam and perhaps some blood testing.  It's possible they will refer you to a Gastroenterologist for additonal tests and perhaps an upper endoscopy.   Best of luck.

Antibiotiics : Broad spectrum antibiotics can affect the bacterial that inhabit your digestive system and lead to overgrowth of normal bacteria.  To help keep them. In check a probiotic, acidophilus, or activia yogurt can help normalize the levels and restore order.  It doesn't take but a cup of yogurt a day to help restore the balance.

how long after finishing a course of antibiotics should someone take a probiotic supplement? is it safe to take probiotics every day , sick or not?

Generally, yes: I usually recommend starting the probiotic supplement with the course of antibiotics. If you are not having diarrhea after the course of antibiotics, you can stop them. Some people take probiotics routinely, though this is probably not necessary. You can also help maintain a healthy digestive system by eating yogurt.

i started a women's probiotic and it made me sick. it caused vomiting and flu-like symptoms. should i discontinue the probiotic?

im a teacher, been sick a lot, i take a daily multivitamin, calcium pill, & probiotic, will taking airborne daily help my immune system?

Save your money!: There is no good  clinical  evidence that it does any good at all!  Don't waste your moola.  You're exposed to lots of germs from those kids. Eventually, you'll be immune to durn near everything!  Eat plenty of fruits and veggies and don't rely on supplements (not proven to help), to stay fit.  If we got healthy from supplements, nobody would get sick. They're often an excuse to eat unhealthy food

my almost 2 year old is constantly sick.he's in daycare.he takes a multivitamin and probiotic daily.he gets a post nasal drip, coug and quickly worsen?

It happens: The average 2 yo in day care is expected to get 5-7 URI's/yr to age 5. Home care drops it a little, but rarely if their are siblings in school. By 5 the frequency drops to 3/yr after they develop some of their own immunity.

Time to see the doc: You are doing so much right!  But a month-long productive cough suggests to me it is time to have a doctor listen to your lungs, check your sinuses, perhaps analyze the phlegm. Hang in there.
