Morning sore throat: Couple of thoughts. You may be allergic to something in the home, so that you’re being triggered overnight and not during the day when you’re out of the house. You may have reflux (GERD), which tends to be worse overnight when we’re lying down flat as opposed to during the day when we’re upright.

Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (such as in this case). Doctors can do a rapid strep throat test with a throat swab.

No vaccine: No vaccine is available and vaccines prevent disease, they do not treat it once it starts. You have a bad cold. You will get better. See a doctor if symptoms persist.

i got my flu shot this year, but i've gotten sick and my symptoms include muscle aches and fever.  is it possible i have the flu?

Accepted Answer

Yes: The flu shot has activity against the predicted most likely flu types thought to be present for the year in which the shot is given.  But you can get other types or a mild form of the common type.  Unless you are very sick, you can probably take off from work, rest, and take the usual anti-cold therapies over the counter.

May be start of Flu: You have been exposed to the Flu virus and if you did not get Influenza vaccine you are susceptical to the Flu.
It may be the start of flu.I suggest you call your doctor or see him/her so that you can start on Tamiflu (oseltamivir).It will shorten the course of flu and if it is not flu will work as preventive medicine for the contact
Other possibility is another viral Upper Respiratory Infection

See Doctor: Recurrent non specific flu like symptoms can be the sign of underlying problem.  If can be sign of festering localized infection or pathology.  See doctor.

Myalgia...: Myalgia, or muscle pain, is common with influenza. Taking ibuprofen, drinking plenty of fluids, and resting are the best ways to get over the flu and feel better. If your symptoms just started (<24 hours ago) and you actually were shown to be positive for influenza type a, your doc could prescribe you tamiflu, (oseltamivir) which would help you get over things a little faster. Otherwise, rest up.
