A member asked:

So then im just wondering if i have more than a virus with me having a sore throat, sinus infection, coughing, gagging, sneezing, or if i have the flu, or something too, im not getting, or feeling any better, ive been sick for a week in a half now?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (such as in this case). Doctors can do a rapid strep throat test with a throat swab.
