hi i'm off my thyroid med for 2 months and i'm feeling very confused my tongue also feels numb sometimes and my hands get numb when i sleep.

Get back on meds: It is not good idea to discontinue your medication, or change the dose, without consulting with the doctor who prescribed the medication. Your symptoms are likely due to thyroid deficiency. Consult your doctor at your earliest and get back on the medication.Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Nerve compression: A common symptom of nerve compression such as carpal tunnel syndrome is periodic numbness especially at night. There is increased swelling within the carpal tunnel at night in addition to the different positions the wrist may be in such as increased flexion or extension which also increase the pressure. An evaluation from  hand surgeon can determine if you have a nerve compression.

Positional: paresthesias are very common. They result from pressure on nerves, the old my hands are asleep. This is one of the reasons we change positions so much when we sleep.

Your : Your symptoms could be consistent with diabetes, hypertension, etc. You need to see a doctor for a complete physical and diagnostic testing. With your history of smoking and obesity, you will also need a cardiac (heart) work up. After the inital evaluation your doctor will decide the best plan of action.

Carpal tunnel synd.: There a re many potential causes, but by far the most common is carpal tunnel syndrome (cts).  Cts is a compression of the median nerve at the wrist and many patients wake up with hand numbness.  Usually initial treatment is a night spilint.  If this does not work, surgery may be indicated.
