i get extremely itchy skin usually on my legs and when i itch it i get raised bumps and red pin point dots and it itches more. should i be concerned?

Dry skin?: Try applying a moisturizer on your legs within 3 minutes after bathing (daily bathing is encouraged) to see if this helps (may take a couple of weeks).  Avoid scented or anti-bacterial soap. If the problem fails to resolve, consult a dermatologist.

the back of my legs itch bad. when i shave it goes away. when the hair grows back it itches bad. i've had it for some time and doctors have given me antihistamines for it.  one doctor said i had an allergy to my own hair.

Itch: I don't believe that you're allergic to your own hair. Itchiness without a rash can be caused by dryness,reaction to clothing,soap,creams,etc especially if you notice itchiness elsewhere in your body. I think you'll have to experiment and try to pinpoint the cause.

i'm five months pregnant and my legs itch terribly everyday. is it safe to take benedryl everyday? it seems to decrease the itching.

Yes: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is safe during pregnancy. As long as you stick to the directions on the package you will be fine.

1 small painless skin colored bump on shaft of penis. it itched briefly. i woke up with chigger bites on the insides of my legs and buttocks area. put cortisone on it, no longer itches and is not painful. what could this be?

: It is too early to tell what is is. You just have to watch it in the next couple days. If it is a chigger bite it should resolve in a couple days. If you are at risk for STD, use condom in the meantime. You should see a dermatologist if the lesion persists or worsens.

Allergies: In reality this is a complex question is could be allergies or could be due to many other symptoms sometimes it could be related to temperature if it continues to be a problem please see a physician however it's usually not a bad thing.

Could be chiggers..: Chigger bites are caused by mites which burrow themselves underneath skin causing little rashes like those in picture here. They can be intensely itchy especially at night when these creatures are active--they actually move in these burrows in the dark, thus more itching at night. Often one gets this infliction from grass fields. Consult doc for treatment. Good luck.

i have a scab about the size of a dime on my leg that itches and won't heal ?

Rule out skin cancer: Itching suggests the body's effort to heal a wound as the nerves try to regenerate. But the fact that a scab persists and the wound will not heal suggests that there may be atypical cells. These cells could be skin cancers, either basal cell or squamous cell. In addition, if there is a history of a pigmented lesion, this could be a melanoma. You need to see a physician who will perform a biopsy.

Stasis dermatitis : Some people who have chronic swelling of their legs and feet due to  edema may eventually developed a type of rash called stasis dermatitis. This is associated with redness and sometimes there can even be clear fluid seeping from the area. Sometimes compression stockings can help but consider a visit with your doctor to clarify why you're having so much swelling and what therapy can be used to reduce it
