why do i have to urinate so much after swimming?

Frequency: Urinary frequency is usually a sign of a UTI or overactive bladder (urge incontinence). You did not mention if the frequency happens a few days after or immediately after swimming. If it happens immediately after swimming, the effect of running water or even swimming, in some women, causes a physiologic reaction to have the urge to urinate. Otherwise, check for a possible urinary infection.

Chlorine, Dehydratio: Sometimes, rigorous swimming will dehydrate you and increase your body temperature. The chlorine can also irritate your local skin if you are sensitive. so, some people will have burning for a few hours after swimming. Sometimes you may be unlucky, when you swim in public pools that are crowded, you may get an infection.

Is your question: whether or not it's safe for her to swim weekly? Have her UTI's been related to her swimming? If not, it's certainly safe for her to swim. Make sure she's changing out of her wet bathing suit as soon as possible after swimming. Being in the wet suit will not cause an infection, but can cause irritation, which can cause symptoms like a UTI.Please contact her pediatrician to discuss further.

Dry skin: The chemicals in pool can strip your skin of its protective oils.  Apply baby oil before and after swimming.

Not sure: Maybe you picked up the flu and you are busy during the day and just do not notice it until you settle down around the late afternoon. The swimming is probably conincidental.

Vulvodynia: You can try a few more things.  Vitamin a;d ointment combined with petrolatum (vaseline) could help.  You can also try Hydrocortisone over the counter in an ointment form.  Do not use the cream form as it contains alcohol. In terms of rx, your doc can give you a prescription for an estrogen topical medication which may help.

Water in ear : Can sometimes cause that feeling till it dries up especially if trapped behind a piece of wax.
