why do i have ringing in my ears as i fall asleep?

It's always there: You don't just have it while you sleep... It's there all the time but you notice it while you are falling asleep because the ambient noise during  the day that would normally mask it is starting to decrease around the house... why do i have dizziness, ringing in my ears, and uncontrolled shivering?

Need seen: dizziness, assuming you mean vertigo or the sensation of spinning and/or falling and ringing in ears or tinnitus is a sign of irritation or injury of the 8th cranial nerve or the nerve responsible for hearing and balance regulation.  The shivering has got me a little perplexed.  Could be that you have a viral infection, causing you to shiver and this can irritate this nerve as well causing sx.

i have mild tinnitus, but some days i wake up with really loud ringing in my ears. its not from a noisy environment. seems to correlate to poor sleep, but not always. today they are howling. no meds last night. suggestions? to control or minimize?

SEVERAL OPTIONS: Tinnitus is a tough one. No clear treatment if it is primary so look for any causes. Do you do a lot of aspirin? Are you exposed to loud sounds? Try to make sue that you get rest, eat healthy , and exercise. See a physician to evaluate for tinnitus and Meniers's Disease.

why do my ears ring so much more after work? i have mild tinnitus and im an or nurse. its never loud or noisy at work, but when driving home from work the ringing seems 10x as bad, like leaving a rock concert without ear plugs. stress, maybe?

Tinnitus: Could be due to environmental noises, as well as stress. You should have a hearing test to evaluate your inner ear.

i have this strange ringing in my ears for a few days now also redness from something called tinnitus. what can i do to cure this?

See a doc: If you have tinnitus and your eardrums are red it may very well be that there is an ear infection or possibly there was trauma to the ear.  In any event a  trip to the doc is warranted for evaluation and determination if you need antibiotics or other treatment.

You may have: tinnitus however your symptoms are more consistent with wax build up in the ears. Have your health care provider clean out your ears or use a product like Debrox at home.

Maybe: Tinnitus, by blocking the conduction of external sounds will make tinnitus seem louder. Therefore, if ear wax is impairing your hearing, it's removal can improve the tinnitus.

i have slight and intermittent tinnitus from my earbuds. besides giving my ears a break from the earbuds, is there something i can do to help my ears?

No: Tinnitus is a central problem secondary to increased electrical activity from the auditory nervous system.  There is no medical therapy for this problem.  The earbuds (please explain) are not producing the tinnitus.  What exactly do you mean by ear buds and perhaps i can give you a more specific answer.  If there is no hearing loss and the tinnitus is slight, i would not do anything.

i have pulsate tinnitus. the whooshing is so annoying and uncomfortable especially when its in my head as well as my ears. it gets worse when exercising. is there anything at all that can help treat this?

Possibly: Consult an ear nose throat specialist (otolaryngologist) - ideally one that focuses primarily on the ears, to work with you on this.  Since your symptoms are worse with exercise it is probably due to the increase in blood pressure, so “maybe” a beta blocker could help (however this is only a hypothesis) treatment would be dependent on your baseline BP &amp; any other contributing factors.

Loud music: The most common cause of ringing in the ears and an 18-year-old is a listening to loud music or playing loud music. I suggest you have an audiological valuation done to see where things stand with your hearing and to discuss your tinnitus. Other causes of tinnitus include high blood pressure excessive use of aspirin and other medications rarely is it due to nerve tumors at your age
