i had a migraine 3 days ago and my temples are still very sore and tender to touch. is that normal? i've never had it hurt this bad.

Migraine Pain: The persistence of pain after a migraine varies with the severity of the headache. Having symptoms for three days would not be common, but not rare. Some people can have multiple migraines with continuous discomfort. Consultation with your primary care or neurologist to discuss possible changes in medication is  indicated if the headache pattern is changing.

agave thorn punctured my temple area, about 1/2" deep.  disinfected the area.  mild headache and local soreness.  should i call my doctor?

Inflammation: If the area becomes red, warm to touch, tender and swollen would definitely call and be seen asap.

Bite off or TMJ: It could be your bite from the way your teeth meet when you close.  Did you have any recent fillings done or had braces?  Could also be TMJ related with muscle spasm from clenching all nite long. See your dentist.

Be seen: If your concern is about temporal arteritis, you should be seen promptly for an evaluation.  Major morbidity can occur in about 20% of patients diagnosed with temporal arteritis so early diagnosis is very important.

It could be a virus: If you have not received all your immunizations- it could be something you may have to wait out. However, more than likely it is related to wisdom teeth, or possible sinus relate discomfort. A quick visit to the dentist may be all you need to find out and treat the situation.

See your doctor : again. It doesn't sound like your infection has been completely resolved. You may need another round of something else, especially if your eyes feel sore. Don't delay.

Temple pain causes: There are many possibilities temple pain.  Both temples?  When did it start?  Any other symptoms such as visual changes? Anything make it better or worse?  Was it sudden onset?  It is unlikely to be more causes such as meningitis or aneurysm. Tension headache, migraine, cluster headache, TMJ and eye problems are common.  See your doc if it worsens, you get new symptoms or lasts longer than 3 days

Weeks: Contusion to bone and soft tissue. May be a few weeks until resolved.

Persistence: Depends on how long symptoms persist. If present a week later, see your MD.

Temporal Arteritis?: If there is a delay in treating this condition it can cause permanent loss of vision in one eye. See your PCP for consultation and tests ASAP.
