Should not: Bleeding during pregnancy may be common but it is not normal and should always be evaluated by your doctor. A sonogram can be done to confirm there is a viable pregnancy located inside of the the uterus

You need ultrasound: Tho it is very early, you will need an ultrasound within the next few wks to determine the source of the bleeding. Up to 25% of pregnant patients may have some spotting within the first 12 wks of pregnancy and continue on with a healthy pregnancy.  But the bleeding should be evaluated. You should be able to see the baby's heart beat by 7 wks after the 1st day of the last period. Good luck !

See your doctor: You should be seen by an OBGYN.  While miscarriage can occur with excessive cramping and bleeding, cramping is also a common pregnancy symptom. : "According to one large 2009 study, 30 percent women have spotting or light bleeding in the first trimester. This can be a very normal part of early pregnancy. Many women experience some bleeding and go on to have healthy pregnancies".  You should be okay if the bleeding is light or just spotting. Good luck.

ultrasound and serial bhcg is useful
if the bleeding is heavy, that is more worrisome.

Could be an early mi: Miscarriage, or just some bleeding with a  normal pg u need to see your OB so your OB can do quant bhcg, and proogets level and an ultrasound at 61/2 weeks is far enough to see a htbeat if it is normal.
