noticed a white spot on tonsil but no pain/soreness past 3-4 days. i have been dealing with some sinus issues like a stuffy nose and maybe occasional post nasal drip and sneezing but no other symptoms, strep test came back neg. what could it be?

: Have you tried to move that spot with a Q-tip? If you have not, you can try.  Tonsil exudate and stone can be removed with the Q-tip. If it can't be moved and persists for weeks, you should be examined to rule out leukoplakia which can be a precancerous lesion in people with history of smoking. Good luck.

can tonsillitis or sinus infection cause 1 enlarged lymph node in the neck?and if so why? i have 1 white spot on my tonsil no pain. negative strep test

More likely tonsil: A single enlarged lymph node in the neck is common with tonsil infection, rarely with sinus infection.  Remember, the lymph node is a collection of lymphocytes that act as a preventive tissue to inhibit the spread of infection to other parts of the body.  If you are asymptomatic and the lymph node does not enlarge, probably not serious.  Finally, rapid strep test only rules out strep as a problem.

Need examination: Impossible to offer you a precise diagnosis, or for that matter appropriate treatment, without a physical examination and a complete medical history from you to identify risks, exposures, pre-existing issues, duration of symptoms, etc.  Go see your doctor please.

?deep infection?: A deep chronic infection that has not been fully targeted by antibiotics is the most common cause.  Various other causes.  You need to see an ENT for evaluation.

Symptoms: Tonsillitis is usually manifested by sore throat, swollen lymph nodes in neck and fever. 1 exudate (white spot) may or may not indicate tonsillitis. If you are better now it was probably viral and should resolve. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Infection: See your PCP for definiotive quick-strep testing and possible antibiotic therapy. I advise zinc lozenges ( Cold-Eze) and dark brown honey.

Depends on situation: If it is sudden, you probably need antibiotics.  That is, if it is bacterial tonsillitis.  If it is a cold, then they are not useful.  If the tonsillitis is recurrent enough or chronic, tonsillectomy can save you many future illnesses.
The tonsils sometimes just have small pits that harbor bacteria like the plaque in your teeth.

Tonsils: Tonsils may develop small white patches that are simply dried surface secretions and have no medical concern. If there is no abnormal asymmetry of tonsils, no redness or pain then infections, such as strep or mono are unlikely. Thrush tends to cause scattered white thin exudate on the palate and cheeks or throat, and less so on the tonsils.

my 3 year old kid have swollen tonsil for more than 2 months. its on left side of the mouth only. and bad breath also. no white spots, tonsilitis?

See a pediatrician: Tonsils may enlarge in response to infection, and may stay large long after the infection clears up. If concerned, I would recommend that you discuss this problem with your pediatrician. Very common.
