Post-inflammatory: Increased pigment is common after any skin injury. Protect from sun and heat. Prescription bleaching creams are more effective than OTC. Often this improves over time without treatment.

i recently got a bad sunburn. i stopped peeling and my skin is recovering. i've recently noticed that on my shoulders i have light patches  on my skin?

Will change in time: Healing skin takes time to re-pigment &amp; as such usually starts out pale. You should take care to use sunscreens over these areas because they will burn easier than your regular skin surfaces with the same sun exposure. It can take a year or more to fully even out your skin tone after a significant burn.

Skin: Probably a reaction to the anesthetic or perhaps stress reaction from the procedure. If you are feeling OK would not be too concerned. However, if you feel flu like or having a fever probably worth being seen by a provider.

: Sunburn is evident when there is history of sun exposure, pink or red skin. The burned skin can affect superficial nerve sensation. Pts report feeling burning, icy, wet, tingling or other sensations. Make sure to stay out of the sun, apply moisturizing cream that contains aloe, emollient oils, and soothing compounds.

Irritate tissues: It may irritate inflammed skin and start the peeling process. Aloe vera (aloe barbadensis) can reduce redness, pain, itching & swelling from a burn.

Accepted Answer

That's normal: As your skin regenerates,   the nerve endings which were damaged are now making new connections to the new collagen in the skin and the itching  which occurs is a normal symptom of this .  A short course of an antihistamine or cool packs can diminish the itching which occurs over those 2-3days.
