Many things: You should definitely see your dermatologist as this can be many things from eczema, to fungus, to pityriasis alba, to vitiligo. A quick visit with your derm will let you know and get you on the correct medicine to treat it.

i burned my wrist recently and once it began healing, a patch of psoriasis in the same area "woke up", is that normal with psoriasis?

It can happen: It can happen with psoriasis that an injury to the skin could trigger psoriasis to come back, it's called koebner phenomenon.

Leprosy: A small discolored patch 20 years ago is not consistant with Leprosy. You are needlessly worried.  If you are constantly worried about health matters, perhaps you would be helped by seeing a phycologist.

If topical steroids: like OTC hydrocortisone doesn't help, see your doctor

Accepted Answer

The patch could be: eczema or atopic dermatitis, both due to very dry skin and perhaps allergies. As you suggest, dryness is the main culprit. It may burn because the skin is so dry that there are actually microscopic cuts/breaks in it which burn when chemicals applied. Many lotions have alcohols or acids (glycolic, azaelaic, lactic) that are irritating. Humidify, hydrate, use sensitive skin lotions/creams.

Wrist patch: Brown spots can because by many different things. One of those is sun damage but at 26 i would not expect that to happen. It could be that you spilled some lime juice on your arm and then got in the sun! i named a condition called margarita nose in which this happened as a transverse line across the nose which was hyperpigmented or darkened.

is it possible for vascular birthmarks to become cancerous over time? also, small red patch on wrist for years now looks redder. malignancy?

Birthmarks: Unlikely and a small red mark that has been there for a long time is probably not a malignancy

i have a dry, red itchy patch of skin isolated to my wrist area. lotion doesn't help, but antibacterial medicine does. what are your thoughts?

Accepted Answer

Could be infection: You may have a bacterial infection or a rash that started as eczema but became secondarily infected. It might also be a fungal infection or mixed infection. If it does not clear completely with antibacterial med you should see a doctor or dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Hypesthesia: This small patch of numbness and hair loss doesn't sound like anything serious,but if it extends or other areas of numbness,tingling,pins and needles develop, see your physician or a neurologist for evaluation. The small patch may have been a residual of an area of skin inflammation or trauma.

can you accelerate the healing process of tennis elbow other than wrist exercises?  do nitric oxide patches help?

Accepted Answer

Prob. not: See your physician for further tx. Options. Usually rest from power grip activities, nsaids , ice massage , and possibly anti inflammatory cream can be helpful initially. If no improvement a local steroid or prp injection can help.Last option is tennis elbow release. I have little experience w/ Nitric Oxide patches. Good luck!
