my friend has these little white bugs that crawl around in her hair. its not lice or dandruff. it's bigger than lice and it's alive. what could it be and can it be treated?

Lice: Your description is a bit creepy.   If you want to try a first step go buy some NIX (permethrin) germicidal shampoo and apply it to the scalp for a couple of hours.   Rinse it out well.    Examine the hair shafts for nits (white cacoons) and cimb or pick them off.  Wash all the bedding and buy new combs etc.  It maybe better to go right to the doctor with examples in hand to get a more aggressive approach.

: Do you have ulcer in the area? It is best to have a doctor evaluate you about what you could do to speed the healing of and to clean out (debridement) including the worms and probably be on device or medication that would allow speedy healing and preventive measure against re-occurrence. Urine analysis: I would suggest that you find an urgent care clinic that could do a quick urine analysis to make sure you do not have an underlying infection or something similar. If you can retrieve the bug and take it with you, it would be helpful to the doctor. Sometimes the insect is in the area of your genitals and when you urinate, it falls into the toilet. But this can become clearer when you go in.

Hard to say.: There are very few bugs that leave a unique bite.  Flea bites are like little hard blisters usually on lower legs.  Brown recluse spider bites may have 2 "fang" marks. A few others have a likely appearance.  But usually there is no way to know.  If anybody else has the same bites that lives or works with you then you know the insect is in that building and call an exterminator.

Clean the area with soap and water to remove contaminated particles left behind by some insects (such as mosquitoes). These particles may further contaminate the wound if not removed. Refrain from scratching because this may cause the skin to break down.
