Stool mucus or more?: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, &amp; even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies should help address if mucus white bits you're seeing are "worms" (pinworms, etc.) so rx can begin.

when i have a bowel movement i notice there are white stuff attached to it, looks like cotton, is it's something i shuld b concern about?

Probably mucus...: Some of the normal cells lining the colon and rectum secrete mucous to lubricate the passage.  Occasionally this shows up in, or around the stool and looks stringy and white.  See your doctor if don't feel well or are concerned.  Good luck!

See a GI doctor: This does not sound normal, but without seeing it and obtaining a full history and exam it is impossible to guess at what this may be.  Please have her see someone soon.

why is my child's poo green?

Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the  loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others &amp; the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue.

Everyone different: We all vary, but is it a change for you? Is there any blood or black in it?  Do you have any belly pain? If so, you should have it checked out. Sometimes our diets vary and we need to clear out more than usual.  4-5 times per day is more than average and shouldn't be ignored if you have other symptoms.

Doctor can check: Light colored poo can be due to not enough bile getting into the intestine.  If a person has gall bladder disease or some other bile blockage, such symptoms can occur.  A primary care doctor can evaluate and order some tests.

White usu. mucous.: White in the stool would usually be mucous, such as from an inflammatory or infectious issue in the intestines.  Yellow would usually be fat.  Black would be blood.

Get him help...: "normal" bowel frequency in america ranges (in a bell-curve distribution) from 3/day to 1/3-4 days.  Your friend's son is clearly outside the bell curve. Lots of possibilities here, particularly based on the age of the child. If the history is accurate, then at the very least a physical exam with digital rectal check & a belly x-ray will likely be performed so appropriate treatment can be offered.

Constipation.: Need good bowel regimen. It is not healthy. Unless you are taking opioids, or have what is called lazy bowel, you should have daily or 3/week BM. Drink water 80 Oz, eat fibers like muselli, oats, brans,fruits like pear, prunes, and papaya. Take stool softener daily. For now you need to take MOM or Magnesium Citrate to help severe constipation.  Get examined if this is a chronic problem.

why is it so hard for me to poo when i want to?

Let's define problem: Doctors define constipation as stools less frequently than once every 3-4 days. Patients feel they are "constipated" when passing hard or small volume stool, or they feel full ; bloated. Had x-ray to show you're not blocked?  Mabe your gut is sluggish or your anus/ rectum work incorrectly--these can be tested for (sitz marker study ; anal manometry, respectively).  See a GI specialist.
