Go to ER: What you are describing sounds like it could be a corneal infection, which can be common in contact lens wearers. If you are experiencing blurred vision and the white cloud on the cornea (clear structure in front of your iris, or colored part of your eye), I would advise you to go to seek eye care. If the symptoms have been quickly progressive, go to   the ER for evaluation and treatment.

: It's hard to tell you what's going on without more information. However, most likely, this is a posterior vitreous separation (PVD) and what you're seeing are clumps of protein from the vitreous gel. Sometimes they can appear as a "Weiss ring". The concern is that there is an associated retinal detachment and you will need a dilated retinal exam with an ophthalmologist to rule that out.

Basics: Without knowing what went on before this started (exposures to dust/irritants/working with metal sparks/insect bite) it may be best to have the eye looked at. A comfort measure in the interim would include application of mild moist heat. That improves blood flow &amp; natural healing. However, if there is a possibility of a retained foreign object or scratch of the cornea, it should be seen.
