i'vehad this bruise on my knee for about three weeks. i have a ping pong sized hard bump on it. it is black and blue with a light center? what is it?

Hematoma: This is a benign blood clot  due to some type of trauma. It will not be  any danger  to you. As it resolves  the center  can be  lighter. You can hasten its resolution with application of external heat and hot packs. This will help the body remove the clotted  blood. Your  physician can confirm the diagnoses  and see if  other  issues  should be considered. Sometimes it  can be aspirated.

i have a bruise that covers almost the top part of my foot. when  i realized it right in the center of the bruise was a white like circle and 2 black dots. is it a spider bite?

Accepted Answer

Yes: You need to be seen by a podiatrist or your pcp.  If this is a bite you could be allergic to the venom and need antibiotics or additional blood work and follow up to prevent loss of skin on dorsum of foot.

Cyst: This may be a sebaceous cyst(wen) which is now infected and may require antibiotics and/or drainage. I recommend that you see your physician or a surgeon in view of redness and tenderness. In the meantime apply hot(not too hot) water applications,pat dry and apply an antibacterial ointment like neosporin or bacitracin.

Targetoid : 37 yo lady with a targetoid lesion. Please see MD for full history and physical , if you had trauma it's likely to be a bruise. If there is a possibility you have been bitten by a tick it could be erythema migrans.

The coloration is initially very dark (black and blue) but quickly fades to lighter shades as the body and local tissues metabolize and breakdown the millions of red cells that make up the bruise.  Darker coloration correlates with a  denser volume of bleeding.

many reasons: Sometimes these are just normal. If you take a baby Aspirin they are more common. If you get a lot of them then you need to see your doctor to make sure there is no problem. Even a slight bruise can cause them sometimes.
