Probable hemorrhoid: This sounds like a typical hemorrhoid. Take a look with a mirror:  if the lump is blue or purple, it's a hemorrhoid. But if in doubt, see a doctor to be certain. No matter what it looks like, don't try to pop it.

Rarely painful: Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins (interconnecting between the lower colon ; skin) both above ; below and adjacent to the anal opening. Like any other vein, they rarely painful, unless infected or clots within.

The : The purple color you describe is a little worrisome. Is it possible that these are blood filled lesions? If so it may be hemorrhoids that are thrombosed (a hemorrhoid that has developed a blood clot). This requires immediate attention. On the other hand, genital warts are typically painless, flesh colored, and look like cauliflower. They can appear within a few weeks of exposure to the hpv virus (virus that causes warts). Honestly, the best thing for you to do in this situation is to see your doctor for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Physicians will also teach you to eat plenty of fiber, stay hydrated, and to avoid straining during bowel movements. Visit your physician for more information and a referral to a colorectal surgeon for an exam and or treatment.

No: Hemmorhoids are varicose veins of the anal canal.  They occur externally where they can clot and forms nodular lesions or bleed.  Internal hemmorhoids are also associated with bleeding and may cause pain. Cuts in the region of the anal canal are fissures that are also painful and can bleed.

5cm: The anal canal may be 3-5cm in length. A hemorrhoid may occur anywhere along that length, and additionally extend out to the anal opening or deeper a bit into the rectum.
