every time i've went to the er they tell me my white blood count is high, i'm kind of scared and want to know why it's high. is it cancer?

More evaluation: There are a couple causes of an elevated white blood count (wbc).  The big categories include infection, steroids, stress  and cancer. Cancer can come in the form of a leukemia where there is an excessive proliferation of white blood cells.   When found early, intervention can make a give difference.

Meningitis?: They need to be sure you don't have meningitis, as this can cause bad headaches and high white blood count.  They may need to do a spinal tap to find out if this is your problem.  If headaches worsen, or you develop fever or vomiting, go to Emergency Room.

i have been tested for lupus but the test come back negative, colonoscopy as well. i have severe stomach problens and iflammation through out my body. blood test tco2 is 18mmol white blood count is high.

Send us lab results: I would like to see the results of your blood counts....need to know the actual numbers of white cells and differential counts.
Also be more specific about your symptoms such as "stomach problems" is it pain, indigestion or nausea???
Are you sleeping well? What type of work do you do. All these details might give me some clues.

Depo-Medrol: Depo-Medrol is a brand of injected methylprednisolone (http://www.drugs.com/mtm/depo-medrol-injection.html). All steroids can increase glucose (sugar), thus aggravating (even causing) diabetes as well as causing temporary increase in white blood cell counts. Infection can also increase WBC. Follow up closely w/prescribing doc.

Make : Make sure you were screened for hepatitis. Also liver function tests can be elevated due to excessive alcohol intake, certain medications, high triglycerides, viruses, and even gallstones. If your white count is high then maybe you had or are recovering from an infection. 
If your liver function tests were three times above the normal than some further investigating should be done. I would start by requesting an abdominal ultrasound. You can always ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist (GI) doctor, or just ask her to explain to you in detail what your results were and what tests she did and what the plan is for the future.

Not likely: Monocytosis is consistent with a viral process. The finding will require further followup. If monocytosis persists the patient may need to see a hematologist and a bone marrow evaluation done. Sepsis is a bacterial infection in the blood stream and other organs. The white cells are of a different population than monocytes in sepsis.

Much too high: Assuming you mean 18,000, it is a very high white blood cell (WBC) count and could indicate a dangerous health problem. Contact your doctor's office again -- if they know the result, they'll probably find a way to see you soon. If you have fever or are otherwise ill (e.g. weight loss, night sweats, unexplained pain, cough, or other symptoms) get seen immediately, e.g. urgent care or hospital ER.

If the high: Wbc was in the spinal fluid this would be consistent with meningitis. If the blood count is up this would be indicative of a response to infection, but may well not be in the spinal fluid.
