Pain: The main reason for surgery is for pain.  I would hesitate to suggest surgery just based on an MRI finding without pain.  At 24 years old, you might have a cartilage tear that could be repaired instead of trimmed.  If you have pain, i would suggest having the arthroscopic surgery though.
