Yes: The flu shot is given usually in the deltoid (upper arm) with a short needle in the muscle itself.  It could be given in the buttock as long as it is given in the muscle with a needle long enough to reach the muscle and you are sure it is in the muscle.  Easier to get in the upper arm and you don't have to drop trow!

Yes it is possible: It is an intramuscular injection and can be injected in gluteal muscles but preferred choice is in the arm.But it can be injected in hip area muscles.

Lump: Lump may be due to the multiple vaccines you received. Use cool compresses to reduce the sewlling.

Sounds ok...: For typical flu shots, there is a regular dose for age 3 years and up. There is a seniors' dose for age 65 years and up. There is a little kids dose for age 6 months up to 3 years. A guy in his 40's who got a seniors' dose should not feel any difference, unless he tends to react to flu shots. His benefit from the 4x bigger dose should be higher antibodies, and better and longer-lasting protection.

Yes.: While the flu shot does not protect against all types of flu, this year's flu shot has done a good job providing protection or making the symptoms of the flu less.

Depends: If the guillain barre was felt to be a result of a previous flu shot ( a known but rare complication) then the child should not receive a flu shot.  If the child's guillain barre developed independently ( without having a recent flu shot) then giving the flu shot is something to consider along with your Dr.  Didn't the person bringing the child for vaccination have to fill out forms that asked?

The : The most important treatments for the flu in a 13 month old toddler would still be rest drinking of adequate fluids.  In addition to over the counter medications such as tylenol (acetaminophen) and Ibuprofen for fever, there are prescription medications such as tamiflu, which are approved for use in children over 12 months of age.  When started within the first 1-2 days of onset of flu symptoms, it has been shown to decrease the duration of flu symptoms by 1.3 days on average.  Importantly, it is available in a liquid suspension for ease of use in small children.

Call your doc: The flu vaccine in theory could cause this, but the time is a little off. Usually the fever starts the same day or later that night. The next day suggests probably catching something while there at the docs. You can treat it like a new illness, likely viral, but if it's not getting better, call the office back.
