Chemical burns: Hair removal cream can cause chemical burns to sensitive mucus membranes. make sure you wash all of it off and use soap to remove any remaining residue. Apply cold compresses and take pain reliever if in pain. The body will heal itself, but it will take 5-10 days for this to be fully accomplished. You should abstain from sex and avoid any irritation or abrasion during this time.

It may: There are 2 different reactions that you may have to a cream that causes darkening.  First, you may be allergic to the cream and the darkening is a response.  Second, may be whats called post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.  This is a response to either an allergic reaction or to the chemical reaction that is used to remove your hair.  Usually stopping the cream will lead to lightening your skin.

Double-Edged Razor: Get a traditional classic manly double edged razor, like a gilette antique. Buy japanese feather blades for it, disposables. It's not cream but it will provide the smoothest shave you've had. 
otherwise creams dont work so well.
the best is waxing, of course.

Irritation...: It seems you might have caused some chemical burn or a skin reaction(dermatitis). This is a very sensitive area and prone to infection. If you are definitely in pain my suggestion is to visit an urgent care center or your doctor as soon as possible for evaluation and immediate treatment. With prompt treatment usually most people recover quickly.

Then apply an antibiotic ointment such as bacitracin, to the area 2-3 times a day. Long er term effects such as skin increased pigmentation would suggest the appropriateness of a visit to a dermatologist.
