There isn't too : Much info here. You could have inflammation or an infection. Or significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.  Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day.

i was eating and i swallowed a piece of bread. im not sure if it was to big or what but it hurt when it went down. i continued to eat and i didnt have anymore pain. should i be worried? or is it probably nothing?

: It happens at times and there will be no long lasting damage to your throat or food pipe.

Acidity: If it is only tomatoes causing the problem then it may have to do with acidity and reflux causing inflammation to the food pipe. No other reasonable explanation that I can think of.

Odynophagia: Odynophagia is fancy medical term for painful swallowing which can be due to many different things, mostly infections. So go see your FamilyDoc fo evaluation then ENT if further testing is required.

Be seen: It sounds like an esophageal stricture.  You need to be seen, by your physician or a gastroenterologist to be diagnosed.

Esophagus is there: Esophagus=food tube from mouth to stomach, runs down the middle of your chest. See your PCP or Gastroenterologist. You will need a scope( a camera) to go there and see what’s wrong. Call tomorrow for apt. or go to ER if food gets stuck.

Med evaluation: Although small items often pass through the GI track without difficulty (like a penny), an uncapped barbell can get caught  in & even tear tissue. Because you are now experiencing abdominal pain - encourage you to be seen at the emergency room.

Many possibilities.: It's not possible to say why your throat hurts when you swallow without more details or your history and an exam. There are many potential sources of odynophagia, or painful swallowing.  See a doctor to have your throat examined.

DYSPHAGIA: or pain on swallowing has many causes from irritationns in the throat (acid reflux, infection) to obstructions in the esophagus (gullet). You need an evaluation by a Gastroenterologist or ENT (Ear Nose Throat) specialist!
