Yes if needed: Sometimes a newborn makes a bunch of grunty sounds that really mean nothing. They have no social conscience and worry little that their noises would bother us. You can coat a q-tip with vasaline & insert it in the anus to the depth of the cotton & move it a bit & a stool that is ready to move should easily follow it out.

Can be normal: Breast fed infants can have a loose/runny poop every feed or once a week. They will often expel gas in the process. None of this is worrisome by itself.

can someone educate me on how long the body takes to digest food and leave the body? i keep hearing different hours. for example, i ate some diced tomatoes on tuesday and i just barely seen some chunks of them in my poop today?

: This varies with your age, size, what you ate  and state of health.  The average is 30 hours from ingestion to appearance in the poop.

No: Ibs at 6 weeks is awful. It has to be related to feedings. Cow's milk can do this as well as sugar water. I suggest that you try nutramigen.

16 years old: whenever pooping sometimes my penis turns into hourglass figure. mostly when cold during bowel movements. otherwise it is normal flaccid and normal erect. i hear this is normal but i started getting this last year. will it go away???

: If there is no lump bump and at other times the shape is normal there is nothing wrong to worry about. Yes it might just go away. Even if it does not there is no harm in a temporary change in shape

Yellow what?: Yellow stool

yellow stool can indicate that food is passing through the digestive tract relatively quickly. Yellow stool can be found in people with gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Symptoms of gerd include heartburn, chest pain, sore throat, chronic cough, and wheezing. Symptoms are usually worse when lying down or bending. Foods that can worsen gerd symptoms include peppermint, fatty foo.

Probiotics : Probably help more with prevention than treatment and may be reasonable in patients with recurrent disease. Saccharomyces boulardii and lactobacillus rhamnosus have been studied the most. There is good evidence for fecal transplant] to treat c. Difficile but still considered investigational and not without potential risks.

when i gulp air or drink or eat, within a few secs, i hear left side of the stomach gurgling. happens often, esp when hv anxiety episodes. stool daily, always long but sometimes a bit softer than usual. is there a blockage in my colon causing sound?

: Rest assured, if there were a blockage, you would not be having normal BMs. The gurgling may result from the air you have swallowed or from liquids moving. Try to gulp less air, and chew your food thoroughly. Gas from foods can be relieved with OTC gas relievers.
