can taking an antibiotic like cefalexin affect my urinalysis?

Not directly: Most antibiotics do not alter the ua, except by killing bacteria.  They can, however, alter the urine culture result.  A few drugs can directly alter the ua by changing the color of the urine.  Rifampin, a less-commonly used antiobiotic, and phenazopyridine/pyridium/azo, a commonly used bladder analgesic, both turn the urine a darker orange, which interferes with reading the urine analysis.

Possibly: There is a fairly rare reaction to some antibiotics that may cause what is known as acute interstitial nephritis, but that is the only situation i can think of.

Need urine cultures: If you are having symptoms consistent with a urinary infection and the urine analysis is abnormal then you need urine cultures to direct you towards the right antibiotic

i have had several urinalyses with blood and/or leukocytes. symptoms are back pain, fatigue and letharg. treated with antibiotics but not better....

Need culture: If the urine has not been sent for culture to make sure the infection can be treated successfully with the antibiotic you have been given , that needs to be the first step. With emerging resistance of many bacteria to more and more antibiotics, you may need a different one. Also, make sure you take all of your medicine as prescribed, not just enough to get you to feel a little better.

my normal ultrasound, urine analysis, but friend had tb, now i have chronic epididymitis not responsive to antibiotics, is it tuberculosis epididymits?

Okay,...: Okay to wait as long as being afebrile. In fact, I would like to applaud your Doc of doing diligence in practicing medicine without aimless use of antibiotics. But, at times, empirical use of certain antibiotics is still needed if Hx of recurrent UTIs &amp; local bacterial pattern support it. For one at 51, it's useful to assure your bladder can empty. More detail? Ask and work with Doc timely.

diagnosed with morganella morganii from dna urine analysis. primary said i cant do gentamicin due to kidney disease. and my analysis is resistant to any antibiotic by mouth. what can i do to get rid of it?

: There are  antibiotics other than gentamycin class which can also treat this. Sensitivity report is very important. Suggest see a Urologist to find why you have this and proper treatment. Good luck

3-5 wbc in urine analysis, and 0-2 rbc, do i need antibiotics treatment? i feel heaviness on the lower belly level and mild burning while peeing.

This is normal: As a lab physician, I believe that these findings do not warrant treatment or further investigation.

got urinalysis this 3:00pm, did not eat anything just water myalbumin, rbc, glucose:negative.should i repeat the ua in the morning?to be more accurate?
