The goal with or without birth control pills is to have a balanced diet (eat a variety of things) that is low in animal fat (such as fatty meats or butter), has plenty of leafy vegetables, and almost no sugar.  Only drink a little bit of juice, as it has sugar.

Watch out for sugars: Cranberry juice is a great source of antioxidant flavonoids. Besides its fame for helping treat uti's it may prevent & even reverse cardiovascular disease. But it is rather tart & many have added sugars which are not healthy- some are even sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, which is best avoided. Look for ones without added sugars (some are blended with sweeter juices like grape- that's ok).

Yes!: Cranberry juice is fine at any point in your pregnancy.  It is often used as a treatment for urine infections; however, if you're pregnant and concerned about a UTI please see your provider as the infection can affect your pregnancy.

It is supposed ...: To acidify the urine, which theoretically kills or prevents bacterial growth in the urine.  Most studies show this really doesn't work. The urine is not acidic enough to do any good.  You are better off drinking plenty of water, which helps flush bacteria from the bladder.  If symptoms persist more than 2-3 days, see your doctor to get checked.  Good luck!
