i have a yeast infection. i went to dr and she did a swab but said i can start medicine if i want or wait for results. i started monistat 7 and the itching is so bad after first dose. worst then before i started treatment. should i stop it?

Itching: For relief of the severe itching associated with your vaginal yeast infection you could try adding a corticosteroid cream in addition to the monistat, but limit it's use as too much corticosteroid can aggravate the yeast infection.

If you keep getting yeast infections, you may want to add a good living probiotic as a supplement as a deficiency of healthy gut bacteria is a set up for chronic yeast over growth.

Vaginal discharge: You don't say what symptoms made you think you had yeast. The main vaginal yeast symptom is itching; if any discharge, usually small amount and thick, with no odor. Colored discharge (yellow, green, "pinksh", etc) usually means an infection of the cervix, and at your age STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas) are the main causes. Stop the monstat and see a doctor ASAP. Good luck.
