Re-tested initially: Hearing tests are now universally recommended for all newborns.  Just like any screening test, occasionally you can get false-positives (meaning that the infant can hear but still failed the test).  The first step is always to repeat the hearing test within the first month.  If the infant still does not pass the hearing test, they are referred to an audiologist for further evaluation.

No idea: There are many reasons for women to have illness (even death) after delivery. She may get an infection, have ongoing bleeding, or have an air embolus or blood clot. These are all very rare. The important thing is to follow up with your doctor after having a baby and make sure that you remain healthy.

Birth: Hearing is developed at birth...Sooner...As we know unborn babies can hear their parents voices! and they respond to music. No one should be listening to music louder than 85 decibels.

There are many: If you live in the washington state, i beleive they do hearing screening test in the hospital your baby was born. You should check to see if your baby passed the screening test. There are a few hereditary conditions that affect hearing, then viral infection during the pregnancy may affect baby's hearing, then medications given to the baby may affect hearing. Meningitis may affect hearing.
