Check it out: If you have had an injury there in the past it may be calcification or scar tissue. Otherwise, you probably should have it checked out by your doctor.

Lump: Size, exact location, duration?  Any bleeding, pain, or as in your case, swelling, deserves immediate evaluation.  Most "lumps" are benign, some are not.  It requires physical examination and possibly additional testing or imaging to properly diagnose.  Only then can appropriate treatment b e recommended.

i have a hard lump just below left rib cage.it doesnt move or cause pain but has doubled in size in around 2 months and is now visible when standing?

Medical evaluation: Please have this lump examined in person by a medical provider.  Any lump that has grown that fast warrants a thorough evaluation.

when i bend to the right or twist i experience a very hard pain that kinda feels like a balloon being inflated inside my rib cage on the right side the amount of pain this causes is excruciating but usually will last about 10-15 minute ?

Ouch!: Potential causes include inflammation of the outer lining (the pleura) of the lungs, inflammation of the rib joints and problems in the lungs themselves. That said, excruciation pain that persists or recurs, even if there's an obvious cause,is always a reason to get medical help.  Please do so as soon as possible!!!!

small, hard, almost egg shaped lump under the skin on far right of back, just below rib cage. no pain. there a couple months. any reason to worry?

Always worth a look: At 16, it would be extremely rare to have a "bad" mass like a cancer, but there can be things like sebaceous cysts, small abscesses, ingrown hairs, lipomas, and foreign body granulomas....So if it becomes painful or larger, gets reddish, or changes color, or if you have the time while you're off this summer from school, i would recommend that you have your family physician or dermatologist see it.

i'm 4 months post mesh ventral hernia repair and now my abdomen gets hard  on my left side and causes pain in my left rib cage. is this normal?

Not clear : Where the hernia repair was on the abdomen vis a vis your pain.  I recommend calling your surgeon.  If you have severe pain, bowel obstruction, or fevers, you might want to go to the er.

Mgt workup: This should be further evaluated. Please have your BP, blood tested for electrolytes and renal function.
You may be retaining fluid and avoiding excess salt intake is suggested. If you have a cough or pulmonary symptoms, please have a pulmonary/cardiac evaluation.

Yes: There are many potential causes of calcium deposits near the rib cage.  Costochondritis is an inflammatory condition that affects the cartilagenous portion of the rib cage and s just one example of a condition that can cause such calcifications.  Thank you.

Activity: Known as costochondritis. Can come on with increased activity. Some people prone. Don't think there is anything to do to prevent.
