: If the sinus is infected,  a steroid injection alone isn't effective as a course of appropriate antibiotics would be needed. The steroid reduces inflammation only. Inflammatory processes in nasal&amp; paranasal sinus linings should start to improve within 2 or 3 days of receiving a steroid injection.

Saline nasal washes: Try Saline nasal washes. The hypotonic saline is soothing and moisturizing to your nasal passages and can help maintain them so they aren't fragile and bleed. It also washes out any mucus that has built up. Also use a little bit pf petroleum jelly swabbed around the inside of your nose to prevent the moisture loss.

There are: a number of them. Sudafed is the most common. HOWEVER I note you are taking THYROID medication therefore I would check the use of ANY oral decongestant with your Health Care Provider!

Determine Cause: Important to determine cause so that sinus infection aren't recurrent. Do you have allergic or non-allergic rhinitis or a combination of both? If you have allergies have you tried starting allergy shots? Daily medicated nasal sprays are key, there are various types that you can try. Important to use daily controller therapy to prevent recurrent sinus infections in the future. Talk to your doctor.

Salt water washes: Buy one of the squirt bottle kits with the ready-made packets. Buy a gallon or two of distilled water. Use it twice per day. Huge difference!

Sinus drainage: Always a good idea to discuss this with your family doctor.  Meanwhile you may try rinsing out your nose using a Neti Pot---google this for instructions.

i take claritin and flonase daily for allergies. it doesn't last into the night however. i'm up coughing, sinus drainage and stuffiness. can i take a 2nd dose of claritin or zyrtec at night? can i take a 2nd dose of flonase at night?

: People respond to meds differently &amp; if the usual dose is not effective for the med I would not double up. Fexofenadine (Allegra) is another non-drowsy antihistamine that may work better for you than Claritin. Zyrtec can make you drowsy. Flonase gets a slow response in general. Its a good med but I wouldn't double use for acute symptoms.

Doctor's visit: If you have ear drainage with earache prior to the drainage, it's better for you to visit your doctor for proper management. If you currently having pain, you may take any pain reliever otc like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen temporary.

have sinus pain. no fever or colored drainage. nasal psgs clear. some clear drainage. what causes this? allergy? air too dry? how do i fix this?

Both: Allergy can do it. If you do not have history of high blood pressure, then take Claritin (loratadine) d for few days.
