my daughter had a spider bite. i did not see spider. just saw bites so think its a spider. she broke out into hives. the hives gof bad but have now mainly disappeared. giving her cetirizine. do hives come and go? does she need a doctor still?

Hives: Unless you actually see the spider you just can't assume it is a spider bite. That isn't important anyway. Hives represent an allergic reaction. They can come and go and just need symptomatic relief like you are doing. No need to see a doctor unless there are breathing issues or an intense skin reaction.

Really a spider?: Spider bites on the finger can be quite painful, as the finger doesn't have a lot of room to swell. Infections in a finger can spread easily through the hand. Watch this very closely. Sometimes, infections with MRSA (methicillin resistant staph aureus) look exactly like a spider bite. So treat this with respect, and go to see your doctor or the er if anything seems worrisome. Good luck. Lgromkomd.

Are you sure: Are you sure this was spider bite? This sounds like symptoms of tick bite. See physician to make sure there is no other cause.

Bite : If the area is becoming more red around the wound and or tender to touch (signs if infection)  then see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis and treatment. A bite should heal within a few weeks.

Of course it is: almost impossible to diagnose a finding like you describe without being able to examine you. It would be best to make an appointment with a health care provider for evaluation. You wouldn't want to leave something like this untreated and risk having it develop into something much more serious.

Symptoms : Vomiting can cause a sore throat so can a virus-like COVID 19. Seems like the vomiting is related to the sore throat. Maybe you have a skin infection on your face. See a doctor

why do spider bites take so long to heal?

Normal healing rate: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.
