REM IS CRUCIAL: REM/deep sleep is crucial , make sure to get a copy of the sleep study to confirm if sleep apnea or restless legs are present as well. You need to keep a sleep diary and try to keep your timing and preparation for bed ROUTINE. With the other symptoms  full labs , TFTS EKG ECHO. Tilt table. Melatonin  is my first line medication then ambien, lunesta or rozerem (ramelteon) to try and reset the sleep cycle

Consider an analogy:: Your car engine knocks and misses at certain speeds. Your mechanic can't find anything wrong. What can you do to fix this? How can you "fix this" if you don't know what's broken? Options: 1) Get another test. 2) Get another mechanic. 3) Get another car. Option #3 doesn't apply in medicine; so you need to get another test or get another opinion. No "fixing" till you know what needs fixing.

Consult sleep clinic: Good sleep helps you feel healthy and vital. Sleep apnea (frequent awakenings due to low oxygen levels during sleep) can increase your risk of high blood pressure, heart rhythm problems, and even obesity! so consult a sleep doctor. If necessary, they will recommend a polysomnographic exam where they monitor your vital signs, movements, oxygen levels, and video your sleep in an overnight sleep lab.

SLEEP DISORDER: During rem sleep, your study should demonstrate no extraneous muscle motion, and if activity was present in other muscles, you could possess narcolepsy.  However, active movements during sleep could be consistent with plms, a form of nocturnal myoclonus, or possibly, a full blown rem sleep disorder, which may or may not precede parkinson's.  Spend some time with a neurologist and discuss.

CPAP and PVCs: Hi Derrick, there is data that demonstrates that CPAP usage does decrease the number of PVCs, but this was only in patients diagnosed with heart failure.  Keep in mind that regular CPAP usage should improve any current symptoms related to sleep apnea such as day time fatigue and will also prevent long term complications such as pulmonary hypertension. Arrythmia: What was the nature of the arrythmia noted on the sleep study? Apparently no abnormalities of heart rhythm occurred while the Holter monitor was worn. It's important to document heart activity when you're symptomatic and therefore more outpatient monitoring should be done. I suspect that you have bursts of supraventricular tachycardia or intermittent runs of extrasystoles which Focalin may cause

Sometimes: It doesn't hurt at all. But some people feel odd sleeping in another bed and in a clinic room. I suggest that you bring your own - great pillow. If you have a blanket that you love to use - bring that too.  Wear comfy jammies. Some sleep labs make the  rooms look like regular bedrooms.

This index must first be objectively discovered and it is the standard by which a board certified sleep specialist uses in diagnosing the level of obstructive sleep apnea and makes recommendations like CPAP before treating a particular condition.
