What you like/See MD: Foods will not alter the course of sore throat. You may wish to see your doctor to make sure that you do not have a bacterial infection that could be treated with antibiotics, and prevent other complications that may occur with strep throat infection.

It is not unusual to have some symptoms like this after you quit, but these could also be symptoms of a viral or bacterial infection on your throat.  If symptoms don't get better in the a few days, see your Dr.

Voice rest: If you a professional voice user (teacher or singer), voice rest for several days or a high dose of oral steroids may help.  If the voice disorder lasts for more than 3 weeks, i would strongly advise you seeing a laryngologist to make a proper diagnosis.  Most inflammations of the vocal folds are virus and it takes 7-10 days to resolve.  There is not much you can do to alter the inflammation.

In over 45 years of ENT  practice, I have never been asked the question of how to develop a hoarse voice.  Every patient with a hoarse voice wants to get a normal sounding voice.  So I can not and will not answer this question unless you specifically tell me why you want an ABNORMAL voice.
