Home remedies: Home remedies, drinks or supplements will not change your voice for any length of time without damaging your body.  Voice lessons may be able to coax your natural voice into a slightly lower register, but this will take some considerable time and effort.

: Soothing warm liquids and honey are often effective in reducing hoarseness Post nasal drip mat lead to cough. Nasal saline spray may be helpful. Watch for signs of shortness of breath and fever. Stay well hydrated and rest.

: That would not be common.  Ask about reflux. If you use y0ur voice a lot it may be hanging on I assume you do not smoke.

Gargle: You can gargle with Maalox Mylanta liquid Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or saltwater

Your voice...: ...Mainly reflects your attitude. Work on that - a relaxed, self-confident outlook will give you a voice to match.  Look into vocal training with a coach - all this stuff about "talking from the diaphragm" does not make sense till someone shows you.

Smoking mostly: I am not aware of any evidence that consumption of alcohol will change the voice in the absence of smoking, but since heavy smokers are often heavy drinkers, and alcohol increases the toxicity of cigarette smoke, there can be more inflammation in people who do both. Think of Selma Diamond's rough raspy voice as the end-stage of smoking related changes in voice.  Consider quitting!!

Multiple reasons: Complaints like yours are often found in people who either chronic post nasal drip - pnd- (nasal drainage on to the vocal cords) or possibly even reflux. If its pnd, then i usually rec an anti-histamine. If its reflux then are otc reflux meds. A good history by your primary care md or an ENT will help point you to the right direction.

Well done: Congratulations on quitting smoking.  You've made the best decision you can make to ensure good health in the future.  It is not unusual to have some symptoms like this after you quit, but these could also be symptoms of a viral or bacterial infection on your throat.  If symptoms don't get better in the a few days, see your Dr.
