They often complain of a "washed-out" feeling accompanied by an increase or decrease appetite and aching muscles. The postdrome is best described as a dull, diffuse, annoying headache that may persist for one to two days, but is not disabling.

how do you get rid of a migraine lasting over 48 hours?

Emergency Room: I would recommend you to go to an emergency room, coz migrane headache may not last that long provided you took some medication for that. We have to rule out others causes of headache such as a bleed in the brain. Having said that migrane headache is easily treatable but recurrence is more common. Talk to your doctor regarding treatment for long term migrane. Take care.

Yes: Yes but it would be better if you had to take it less often...Less headache.

Evaluation ASAP: "Worst ever" headache warrants an evaluation at least in the Urgent Care, possible the Emergency Dept.  You need to have your blood pressure checked ASAP.  If you have a fever it could also be infection related such as meningitis.

Pattern?: If your migraine was unusual, or the first time you have had one, I would suggest you see a doctor urgently.  If you have a history of migraines, this could be what is called a sleep bruxism headache pattern. This is caused by clenching of the teeth at night. The connection is unclear, but a migraine can cause a stress response causing clenching. Use a mouth guard OTC or professional for relief

: Unlikely to be a substantial issue, but why are you taking pain medication?  And since the toradol is a prescription medication, why was it provided by your physician?  We can provide far better answers if more information is provided.  You could repost and we will address in further detail.

my husband took a butalbital an hour ago for his migraine. he's still in pain. can he take a 5 mg valium now?

Not good: Butalbital has a sedative, a barbiturate, in it. It is not recommended that you combine valium,a tranquilizer, with it. For pain relief it's safer to take Tylenol or an anti-inflammatory like Advil or Aleve ,with food,instead.

if my 5 day gradually worsening vertigo was due to migraine, why isn't it improving? i thought mav was only meant to last hours?

Vertigo: Assuming this is a typical migraine and no other different features, it is still possible to be MAV. But I agree it could be a sign of another process such that could have triggered the original migraine to start with. Example being an ear infection, labyrinthitis, and others. If migraine is getting worse as well, concern for other cause would be significant....meningitis (fungal, viral?)
