Normal: If your ovaries were left in place, you are not in menopause, which is confirmed by low FSH and lh. A partial hysterectomy in medical terms means removal of the uterus but not the cervix. Complete hysterectomy means removal of uterus and cervix. Removing the ovaries is separate.

38, had a partial hysterectomy at 27, started having menopausal symptoms recently, my lh is 20, fsh is 6.1, any thoughts?

: Ovarian hormone production may have increased the estrogen production, and with an "LH of 20", the sudden drop prior to ovulation may cause symptoms similar to those in actual menopause.  The LH level may simply reflect ovulation, and the FSH level is normal. Ask your GYN physician about low dose oral bcps, which will stop ovarian hormone production and lessen your symptoms.

Ans: You still have the right ovary for perimenapausal symptoms try the essential oil peppermint on your wrist. Does in some cases relieve the hot flashes. Otherwise there are medications that can be tried. Not the best efficacy though

Depends on the cysts: Ovarian cysts can have many different characteristics. If they are growing in size and/or have complex or solid components further evaluation should be considered.  Sometimes a blood test can help with surgical decision making.

38yo f, partial hysterectomy 5 years ago. recent fevers, malaise, hot flashes, joint pain. all blood work neg except 35 and fsh 145.7. what's wrong?

Malaise, hot flashes: Please request a full workup of your thyroid, and not just the TSH.   A full thyroid panel including antibodies to the thyroid, and Reverse T3 (liothyronine).  You did not reveal the rest of the test you had done, but you should have all 3 estrogens checked, progesterone and other hormones.  Request to see an endocrine md or a Functional Medicine doctor to help figure out what is happening with your hormones.

Follow up visit: For highly specific result interpretation it's best to discuss with the ordering physician who can put it in the proper context. If you still have your ovaries then one expect normal hormone production. Your Estrogen level is normal but a doctor would not test Estrogen levels typically when evaluating hot flashes. They would test an FSH level. Looks like your hot flashes are not from menopause

Prolactin high: A prolactin of 749 is very high and can be a sign of pituitary tumor, you should have this evaluated by and endocrinologist.

listen to your body: The problem is not estrogen deficiency but more likely blood sugar swings. Eating 6 small equal meals with lots of fresh vegetables and slow carb anti-inflammatory grains like quinoa, buckwheat groats, or amaranth, a small amount of high quality protein, and evening primrose oil 3, 000 mg a  day  with stress reduction and fun exercise through the day is worth a try.

34 yo hysterectomy 6 years ago removing everything except my ovaries.past few months i am having night sweating, breaking out, emotional issues, fatigue and weakness etc. my lh level is 1.5 , fsh says 2.54 pediatric?? is this normal? thyroid is norm?

: While your symptoms sound menopausal and early menopause is a risk because of your surgery, your FSH and LH are not consistent with that. Additional testing should include at least a CBC, a complete thyroid panel (if not already done - a TSH alone may be misleading) and perhaps a ferritin, vitamin B12, estrogen, and testosterone.

what should fsh level be if you are on hrt post hysterectomy?

Not measured!: If you had a hysterectomy with oophotectomy (which is removal of the ovaries) your FSH will go very high, usually into the 100's.  The FSH responds differently in different people to HRT.  In some it does not change in others it comes to undetectable.  What is important is how you feel not a number!  Also, know in situation it is safe and appropriate to be on HRT, see link.
