Not an easy question: obviously strawberries, and probably cherries, other fruits that cross react: ? grapes. you will definitely be better off seeing an allergist for better evaluation, testing and probably performing food challenges, most important though is prescribing epinephrine to use in emergency, together with an antihistaiminc. pls check the ACAAI web site to locate an allergist in your area, goodluck

No: Not consuming strawberries would not affect the nutrition of a person as long as s/he takes other fruits and vegetables.

: I doubt the causal relationship between strawberry allergy and high pitched voice change.  There is nothing to concern.

my friend in highschool is allergic to strawberries and i want to protect her. since i have claritin (loratadine) sometimes, can i give one to her when expoused?

Yes but Epi needed: If the reaction is an anaphylactic one, she needs to carry a 2-pack epinephrine kit with her since no oral medication can save her from a severe attack.    Antihistamine may help an itchy mouth but not potent or fast enough to do much for severe allergic reactions.  Vigilance is still the best approach.

Best not to: You can be allergic to anything and best not to try the drinks if actually has strawberry in it.However,sometimes when things say natiral favoring it does not actually have the strawberry in it but artificial.Hard to tell sometimes what is actually in it.If it is a significant allergy why take the chance.

You've : You've described your case very well.  Indeed it seems that you are highly allergic to strawberries.  It is very worrisome that your lips swell and you develope shortness of breath when eating strawberries.  You probably need a formal allergy evaluation to see if you are allergic to other things too.  You should discuss your situation with your physician.  You really need to carry or have an Epipen (epinephrine) available in an emergency.  It could save your life, as allergic reactions can develop quickly. Hope this info helps.

Food allergy: Allergy to any food, in this case strawberry will cause symptoms of oral itching, lip or tongue swelling, hives, breathing difficulty and/or throat closure etc. Food allergy is diagnosed with clinical history followed by skin or blood test and that information helps establish the diagnosis and severity of the allergy.
