Skating is an excellent exercise and helps develop and maintain muscles, flexibility, cardiovascular health, coordination, joints, etc.I would think they are quite comparable, though I haven't seen studies on skating. I suspect skating might deliver less impact than running.Also, depends on how hard,long, and athletic your skate.
