Bend and Hang: If you are inquiring on how to dress, etc. After surgery when it is important to not actively move your arm, we recommend leaning over and letting the arm dangle/hang freely without tension.  Typically, you will want to put that arm through a shirt first...This type of dangling or pendulum position is also good for showers and helps with pain control.

Shoulder problem: If you can't move the shoulder then the problem is in the shoulder. It most likely is a rotator cuff (tendon) injury or tear. After an examination the most likely test needed besides an x-ray is an MRI to give the soft tissue details. A person can have a frozen shoulder from an old injury tha would need therapy and possible manipulation.

I : I am not sure what "anti" pain is or how it relates to an IV in the left hand.  Discomfort a week after surgery may or may not be normal.  It all depends on how concerned you are about the pain you are having. The best thing to do is to call your surgeon and check with them.  If you cannot reach them then try your internist.  If all else fails and you feel your need is urgent then go to the nearest emergency room.  I hope this helps.

i woke up unable to use my arm properly. i slept on it all night and wont up in a lot of pain and i cant move my middle fingers?

: Slept so you put pressure on the nerve going to middle fingers. Google innervation of fingers and you can find which nerve it likley was depending on exactly where the pain is. Try not to do this again.  If you have passed out this is more likely to happen.  In fact nerve can be permanently damaged as meds alcohol that made you pass out stops you from moving off nerve when it says: Hey get off me!

why might my arm be temporarily paralyzed when i first wake up? i am completely unable to move it for the first minute or so. i do rest my head on my arm sometimes, but ive always done that and only recently have i begun to experience this?

: You are putting pressure on the nerves in that position causing the symptom. _Pl sleep with no pressure on the arm

R/O CERVICAL DISC: Your description of the pain sounds neuropathic in nature . You need a full exam and focused Neuro exam. Full lab tests including TFTS /Vit b12/Vit d/ Lyme disease. If symptoms persist an you have increased knee reflexes, MRI of Cervical spine would be needed to evaluate for cervical disc disease.  Avoid heavy lifting till you are evaluated.if symptoms worsen seek prompt evaluation

currently experiencing pain under right armpit. weird feeling as it is not always there but it is a mild pain that becomes more prevalent in some poses and when i move my arm. is this serious? i have been unable to find swelling, where to look?

: The armpit area connects the muscle of chest, arm and rib cage. Muscle strain in pectoralis major or muscle overuse through physical activity can cause: pain in armpit, limited range of motion, weakness, swelling and tenderness.  Enlarged lymph node due to infections, lymphoma or leukemia, itchy, scaly plaques of inverse psoriasis, diabetic neuropathy, hair follicle inflammation are other causes.
