Geriatric. Pneumonia: This type of pneumonia is common in the elderly  and is often terminal but unfortunately I do not have any hard statistics.

Both: Cancer survival rates are improving due to early diagnosis as well as better treatment.

Covid-19: Probably not. Likelihood of survival has mostly to do with age and underlying medical conditions, ie, age greater than 65, hypertension, diabetes, obesity increases risk. Remember that more than 95% of patients have mild illness.

It varies: An average response to chemotherapy for Colon cancer lasts 9 to 12 months(range from 6 months to 2 years).

Yes! Exciting!: This paper was published in a very pretigious medical journal (nature medicine 2012). The vaccine uses  different pieces of renal cancer to stimulate the immune system and prevent recurrence. The first clinical trials (phase i and ii) showed improved survival for patients, but before we know if that's "real", a phase iii study must be done. This is underway. I'm hopeful!

Monitor levels: Anti E usually has little impact. But you need to monitor level to insure it is not worsening. Also US will be used to monitor for fetal heart failure.

Modern : Modern therapy is expected to get 60 - 80% of adults with all into remission.  Unfortunately, with standard chemotherapy alone only 30-40% of adult all patients live more than 2 years.  This likely compares to a 20-30% long-term survival rate in the early 1980s.  Much more significant improvements have been made in the treatment of children with all with long-term survival in over 80% of kids with the disease.  We now know much more about the genetic abnormalities in the cancer cells than we did in the 1980's and can better predict a patient's prognosis and tailor treatment for them.  In particular, outcomes are now much better for mature b-cell all and there are targeted agents available for treating philadelphia chromosome-positive disease as well. Age continues to be a poor prognostic factor with people over 50 not fairing as well as younger adult patients.

Fiber and Life: Fiber has been shown to prevent colon cancer. It has not been shown to improve cancer survival. You would need to eat about 30 to 35 grams of fiber per day to obtain the preventive qualities of the fiber, and you need to do this long-term.

Dangerous: An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy implanting in a place other than the intrauterine cavity. Most are in the fallopian tube. Other site include ovary, uterine cornua, cervix, etc. If untreated , they most likely will rupture causing internal hemorrhage which is life threatening.  There have been cases of ectopics implanting in the abdomen and developing. These are rare and very dangerous.

does radiation therapy for lung cancer improve survival rates?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Radiation is used in curing lung cancer.  Its used in varying combinations with surger and chemotherapy to find the best treatment for each stage and type of lung cancer.  It is not used in every case of lung cancer to accomplish the desired effect.  Stage one for example requires no radiation and would not help the survival if the patient has surgery with lobectomy.
